Our Story
In 2020, we opened our first Etsy shop, selling our daughters’ artwork as digital downloads. It was a simple way for them to express their creativity while earning extra money to help with college expenses.
As our shop grew, we felt inspired to create something more tangible. That’s when we began crafting custom wood slice portraits, transforming cherished photos into meaningful keepsakes. The response from our customers was overwhelming, and we quickly realized this was more than just a side project. Taking a leap of faith, we purchased our first laser machine—a pivotal moment that led to the birth of Simply Northwoods and an entirely new creative journey.
With our new laser in hand, we expanded our offerings to include DIY wood embroidery kits and yarn sewing kits for kids. By 2022, we introduced acrylic earrings, adding a new dimension to our craft—and we haven’t looked back!
After two years of steady growth, we knew it was time for a name that truly reflected who we are. Grace + Joy Collective is more than just a business; it’s a reflection of our family and our faith. It also holds deep personal meaning, as Grace and Joy are the middle names of our twin daughters.
Our journey has been filled with unexpected opportunities, and at times, it has stretched us both personally and professionally. As individuals who are naturally more quiet-natured, this experience has pushed us beyond our comfort zones, refined our skills, and encouraged us to embrace new experiences with courage. Through this growth, we’ve not only strengthened our craft but also formed meaningful friendships—each one a gift from God.
